Representative Coaching & Management Opportunities 2026

We are pleased to share an opportunity with our rugby community to be part of Waikato Rugby’s 2026 representative coaching and management programme. As an organisation, we are proud of our strong tradition of success and our commitment to developing clear pathways for players, coaches and managers to progress to higher honours.

We are now seeking expressions of interest for coaching and managerial roles across our 2026 representative campaigns.

Teams Available:

  • U16 Boys (x2)
  • U16 Girls
  • U18 Boys
  • U18 Girls
  • Under 85kg Men
  • Divisional Men

These teams will support other representative programmes, including Women’s Development, U20 Men, FPC, and NPC. Separately, our wider pathway opportunities sit under the NZ Harlequins, Waikato Pacifika and Waikato Māori banners which appoint directly under their own programmes.

Role Overview:

These coaching and managerial roles are volunteer positions, designed for individuals passionate about developing players and contributing to Waikato Rugby’s representative programme. Coaches will lead and develop squads on and off the field, while managers will support coaches in planning, logistics and ensuring a high-quality player experience.

Coaching Roles:

Preferred qualifications and experience:

  • World Rugby Level 2 (or equivalent).

  • Proven experience developing players technically and tactically.

  • Ability to build team culture and lead squads to success.

Responsibilities include:

  • Selecting squads in conjunction with Waikato Rugby.

  • Coaching and managing teams to a standard of excellence.

  • Prioritising player development and experience.

Managerial Roles:

Preferred qualifications and experience:

  • Proven experience managing within a team sport environment.

  • Strong administration, communication, and organisational skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting coaches in planning and running programmes.

  • Managing team logistics and communications.

  • Ensuring an outstanding player experience.
