2024 Waitomo Group Waikato Farah Palmer Cup Squad Announced

The 2024 Waitomo Group: Waikato Farah Palmer Cup (FPC) squad has been announced ahead of the kick-off of the Farah Palmer Cup presented by Bunnings Warehouse.

This season the squad will be again Captained by the experienced, Chyna Hohepa and assisting her as Vice-Captain is another experienced player, Ashlee Gaby-Sutherland. Both players have accumulated 41 provincial caps each for Waikato.

The squad also features eight international players that represented their countries last season. Four 2023 Black Ferns squad members have been named, they are Ariana Bayler, Renee Holmes, Tanya Kalounivale and Kennedy Simon. Plus, three Black Ferns XV players who are Mia Anderson, Vici-Rose Green and Lela Ieremia. Finally, Fijiana Women’s national side player, Jade Coates, returns after a lengthy injury to complete the eight international players. 

From the 2023 squad, 25 players have returned to playin 2024 with three players in line for some major milestones. These players are, Ariana Bayler (49 games), Emma-Lee Heta (46), Grace Houpapa-Barrett (44), all have a chance to achieve 50 games for the province joining, Victoria Edmonds and CHelsea Semple, who are the only two Waikato women's players to achieve this milestone 

Five players have a chance to play in their 18th blazer game this season. These players are Claudia Hobbs (15), Vici-Rose Green (14), Kiriana Nolan (13), Reese Anderson (12) and Leata Puni-Lio (10). Finally, players who are potentially going to receive a Mooloo bell for their 10th game for the province, include, Montessa Tairakena (9), Tafiau Fetalaiga (9), Jade Coates (8), Lela Ieremia (7) and Kaea Nepia (7).  

This year’s squad also features nine players who have a chance of making their debut for the province, they are, Hamilton Old Boys player, Yu Sato, Melville’s, Veisinia Mahutariki-Fakalelu, Foa Samuelu, Shyrah Tuliau-Tua’a, Otorohanga’s, Keighley Brough and University’s Logan Hauraki, Hinemaringi Scott, Sammy Spence and Rayarn Tamati.
