VEO CAMERA
VEO Camera
INTRODUCTION:
Waikato Rugby has partnered with Danish company VEO to offer our clubs and schools with a relatively simple and easy to use video camera to capture footage of their local rugby games for the purposes of analysing players and match officials performance.
Unlike high performance sporting programmes with dedicated analysts using multiple cameras and drones to capture footage for players and coaches to use to analyse their performance on the field, Veo’s hardware and proprietary software is revolutionary as it does not require a camera operator.
The camera gets set up on the half way line on a 3 metre high tripod (included). The camera operator simply uses the cameras built in WIFI connectivity to connect their mobile device to the camera. They then open a browser on their device and connect to the camera and once you're ready, simply click the record button. The camera records the entire rugby field in a 180 degree field of view. The operator can just leave the camera to do its thing.
At the conclusion of the match, the operator ends the recording, takes down the equipment and heads home or back to the club.
The camera is then connected to the internet and the footage gets uploaded to the club or school’s Veo account and this is where the magic happens. VEO’s artificial intelligence software has and is constantly being taught how to follow the play. The “raw” footage is then converted to something that better resembles video of a rugby game with the camera following the play. The team can then use the footage as an analysis tool, with Veo having a complete online analyst software programme included.
HOW DOES THE PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN WRU AND VEO WORK?
Waikato Rugby is acting as an ambassador for Veo, as many other provincial unions have done already. We are using the camera's for developing our representative players and match officials as well as allowing our clubs and schools to borrow the camera's. If a club or a school likes the camera, they can then contact Veo direct and make a purchase of the hardware and a monthly licence to use their software. As a partnership, Waikato Rugby receives a small fee and the club or school receives a discount on the recommended retail price.

HOW DOES MY CLUB OR SCHOOL BOOK A CAMERA?
Waikato Clubs and schools can now book the camera to trial and use and gain a better understanding of how they work, with the view that if they like what they find, they return to our website and using our unique discount code, can click through to the VEO site to purchase their own. This opportunity is only for a small amount of usage. (2 times maximum) After that, we strongly recommend that if your team wishes to use a camera, you speak to your club or school with the view of purchasing your own. We can assist with funding opportunities and suggestions.
STEP 1: Below is a calendar of the camera and the dates it has been booked. Firstly, check to see if a camera is free on the day you wish to borrow it.
STEP 2: Once you've submitted the booking form a Waikato Rugby representative will be in touch to arrange logistics.
CAN I BOOK A CAMERA FOR MULTIPLE GAMES?
The purpose of this booking system is to allow clubs and schools to trial the equipment. It's not designed to allow clubs and schools to book the camera to film multiple matches for the teams across multiple weekends. It would be unfair to allow one club or school to book a camera multiple times. If a club or school finds the camera a valuable tool for developing their players, they should seriously consider purchasing their own using our unique discount code.
CAN I BOOK A CAMERA TO FILM A TRAINING SESSION?
The proprietary artificial intelligence software is currently learning rugby through more and more rugby games. At this stage, it's only capable of filming games, not trainings.
I'M READY TO BUY A CAMERA, HOW DO I DO THAT?
Go to the VEO website, find the camera, tripod, and subscription plan you want, complete the online purchase form and in the DISCOUNT CODE, type, "WRU200" to receive a 100 euro discount on the recommended retail price of the camera.
