Waikato Rugby Announces Resignation of CEO Carl Moon


Waikato Rugby today announced the resignation of its Chief Executive Officer, Carl Moon. Carl will be leaving his role on May 10, 2024, to assume a new position as the Head of Provincial Union Relations at New Zealand Rugby.

 

During his tenure as CEO, Carl has been instrumental in leading Waikato Rugby through challenging times, particularly amidst the uncertainties brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. Under his guidance, the organisation has achieved significant milestones, including attaining a stable financial position.

 

Diane Hallifax, Chair of Waikato Rugby, expressed gratitude for Carl's dedication and contributions to the organisation. "We would like to acknowledge Carl's many achievements during his time as CEO of Waikato Rugby. His leadership has been pivotal in navigating our organisation through difficult periods, and we are immensely grateful for his efforts."

 

Carl Moon's departure marks the end of an era for Waikato Rugby, but the board is committed to ensuring a seamless transition. The organisation will be initiating a search for a new CEO, with the recruitment process set to begin promptly.

 

"We are sad to see Carl leave, but we understand his decision to take on this new challenge with New Zealand Rugby. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours," added Ms Hallifax.
