Samisoni Taukei’aho recommits to Waikato for 2022-24

Waikato is pleased to announce the re-signing of powerhouse hooker, Samisoni Taukei’aho, extending his contract for the next three seasons beyond 2021.

Taukei’aho, 23, made his debut for Waikato in a successful Ranfurly Shield defence against Thames Valley back in 2016. Since his debut, Taukei’aho, has made 44 appearances for the province scoring a total of 100 points by the way of 20 tries.  He was an influential member of Waikato’s promotion back to the Premiership in 2018 scoring nine tries in that campaign.

Waikato acting Chief Executive Officer, Carl Moon, said, “Waikato Rugby is proud to announce the re-signing of Samisoni Taukei’aho.  He is a hardworking player, and a thoroughly decent and conscientious team man that continues to epitomise what our province is all about.

On the park he is a powerful ball carrier with an incredible work rate, who continues to develop his set piece and take his game to the next level.

It’s equally important to us all that Samisoni continues his growth in Super Rugby with aligned contract time frames that see him in red, yellow and black for a few more years with Waikato and the Gallagher Chiefs.”

Samisoni Taukei’aho is Waikato Cap 1163 and has a chance to bring up 50 games for the province later this season in the Bunning Warehouse National Provincial Championship.
