Waikato Rugby is the organisation responsible for administering and delivering the game of rugby in the Waikato Region. Our purpose is to provide opportunities for anyone and everyone to belong, to participate and to be successful through rugby across the Waikato and its communities.

Overview of Opportunity

In 2019 the Waikato Rugby developed an Emerging Leader programme with an aim to develop the next generation of directors and prepare them to positively transform their organisations and communities.

The programme provides people with governance potential and ambition the opportunity to participate on a board.  It also provides the Waikato Rugby board with exposure to new talent, ideas, thinking and experiences.

Attributes we are looking for:

• Interest in developing your governance skills
• Ability to add value at the board table through your unique skills or perspective
• Ability to commit to a board for one year
• An interest in rugby at any level, e.g. administration, coaching, playing, supporting or refereeing
  

Commitment required

Eight board meetings a year.  You will be provided with mentoring and the opportunity to attend IoD events.

Waikato Rugby - Independant Board Member Vacancy

Organisation Description

Waikato Rugby is the Organisation responsible for administering and delivering the game of rugby in the Waikato Region. Our purpose is to provide opportunities for anyone and everyone to belong, to participate and to be successful through rugby across the Waikato and its communities.

Role Available

Due to the incumbent being appointed to Vice President we have an Independent Board Member vacancy.

Skills/Competencies Required

• A governance and strategic skillset.
• Experience or knowledge of women’s rugby and/or women’s secondary school rugby and player participation.
• The ability to think and act independently of any stakeholder or stakeholders in rugby in the Waikato, and in the best interests of rugby across the entire region.
• Board diversification, primarily in terms of idea & thought, but also in terms of gender, and/or ethnicity (particularly Maori or Pasifika), to ensure it is representative of both the Waikato and its rugby community.

Commitment required

Eight board meetings a year and approximately 10 hours per month

Attendance at Club and representative rugby games as required
