Waikato XV team named for Chiefs Country Centurion Cup match.

Waikato XV have named their side to take on Counties Manukau Cavaliers at Fred Jones Park in the build up to the Gallagher Chiefs first home game, as a part of the Chiefs Country Centurion Cup. 

Waikato XV head coach, Nathan White, has named 2019 BCITO Waikato Under 19 captain, Tom Martin, as captain to lead his Waikato XV squad.

The match day squad features nine 2019 Waikato Mitre 10 Cup squad members and several up and coming Waikato players, that include three 2019 Waikato Under 23 players and seven Waikato Under 19 players that have represented the region in the last three seasons.

The Gallagher Chiefs have also released Sam McNicol and Adam Thomson to play this weekend, allowing them to get some valuable game time. McNicol has been named to start on the left wing and Adam Thomson will get his chance from the bench.

Finally, the squad also features New Zealand Under 20’s prop George Dyer and New Zealand Schools representatives Tapaea Cook Savage and Gideon Wrampling.

Waikato take on Counties Manukau Cavaliers at Fred Jones park on Saturday afternoon, kick-off is at 2.25pm:
