Waikato beat Northland tonight in a crucial Air New Zealand Cup round robin match at Waikato Stadium. on Saturday night.
The Mooloo Men scored one try in the first half from fullback Sosene Anesi and a penalty kick from Stephen Donald. It was a tense first half for Waikato with Northland leading 19-10 at the half-time break.
In the second half Waikato fought back with three tries - each scored by hooker Aled de Malmanche, fullback Sosene Anesi and winger Dwayne Sweeney. Sweeney's try in the last movement of the game secured a much needed bonus point for Waikato. They currently sit in fourth spot on the Air New Zealand Cup standings table.
Next Saturday's Waikato v Auckland clash becomes a vital game. This is held at Waikato Stadium on Saturday 24 October. Tickets for this match, (kick off 7.35pm) are on sale now via www.mooloo.co.nz and the usual ticketing outlets.
