Waikato went down to Canterbury 13-46 at AMI Stadium in Christchurch tonight in week three of the Air New Zealand Cup.
It was a tough night at the office for the Mooloos in Christchurch against a Dan Carter-assisted Canterbury side. The first half saw Canterbury pull away to a 29-6 lead over Waikato with 16 points put on by the boot of Carter.
In the second half Waikato showed more promise with a try to lock Romana Graham not long after half-time. However, Canterbury surged again with two further tries to push their final score to 46.
The Waikato team flies back to Hamilton tomorrow morning. The Mooloos next week prepare for a match closer to home when they will take on the Bay of Plenty Steamers in Mount Maunganui on Saturday 22 August at 2.35pm.
