Update on Brendon Leonard
4th October 2010 09:25AM
On Saturday during the Waikato vs Northland game, at Toll Stadium Whangarei, Brendon Leonard collided with Northland fullback Lachie Munro in the 63rd minute of the game.
Brendon was knocked out and the medical team removed him from the field using a spinal board as a precaution.
Brendon was taken to Northland hospital straight away and assessed by their staff. The Waikato team went and saw their teammate after the game and Brendon was released late last night.
Travelling team doctor, Doctor Paul Kennedy said "Brendon was knocked unconscious and sustained an injury to his right ear. He was released from the hospital after being cleared for any serious injuries and will be seeing an ear, nose and throat specialist next week to determine the length of time Brendon will be unavailable to play rugby".
Coach Chris Gibbes commented "Brendon had an outstanding game yesterday and he'll be a massive lose to our team over the next couple of weeks. He's a tough competitor and will bounce back from this injury in no time. We all wish him a speedy recovery".
