Sosene Anesi Returns for Waikato ITM Cup Season

10th June 2010 11:45AM

Waikato's most-capped current player Sosene Anesi will move back to New Zealand to play for his province in the 2010 Waikato ITM Cup campaign.

Anesi, 29, most recently played for the Waratahs in the 2010 Rebel Sport Super 14.

This week he signed for one season with Waikato and will join the Waikato ITM Cup pre-season training squad later this month. Anesi has played 76 games for the Mooloos since his debut in 2003.

Waikato coach Chris Gibbes says: "it is great to be able to welcome back Sosene for another Waikato season. He is a quality, experienced player who brings a lot to the table. He is able to play a fullback or on the wing and has a great skill-set."

"Sosene has been with Waikato for seven seasons and is now coming back for his eighth after a stint with the Waratahs. His knowledge, combined with his loyalty to the red, yellow and black jersey will inspire our younger guys, while at the same time giving our Waikato team the experience needed to compete strongly in the provincial championship."
