• This was the first game this year where both teams scored five tries.
• Brendon Leonard scored two tries in his 100th first class match - which now gives him 28 first class tries.
• During the match Stephen Donald leap-frogged two players Daryl Halligan and Butch Pickrang in the all time Waikato point scoring list. He now sits in sixth place on 370 points.
• This was Waikato's highest score in Whangarei since 1992.
• Three players who began their careers in Waikato were playing for Northland on Saturday - Jared Payne, Joel McKenty and Mark Burman.
• Stephen Donald's 25 points (1t, 4c, 4p) are the most for Waikato against Northland since the days of Matt Cooper.
• One might have expected a better reception for Kamo in Whangarei.
