• For the second time this year a try scored after 81 minutes gave Waikato a win over Auckland.
• This was the first time Waikato have defeated Auckland twice in a year on Eden Park. It was the third time they have had consecutive Eden Park victories - the last time was the 1992 NPC semi-final and the 1993 Ranfurly Shield double.
• Not many teams have scored five tries against Auckland on Eden Park.
• The 75 points match aggregate is the most ever in a Waikato / Auckland game - surpassing the 70 points from Waikato's 59-11 victory in 2004. Auckland had only conceded one higher score to anyone since that game.
• Waikato's 38 points is their second highest ever against Auckland.
• It was in 1966 that Waikato last defeated Auckland twice in a year.
• Never before has Waikato defeated Canterbury and Auckland in consecutive weeks.
• Sosene Anesi scored tries in both games against Auckland this year.
• Auckland conceded 21 tries this year - seven of them to Waikato.
• Auckland was the second losing semi-finalist of the weekend to score four tries.
• After 14 matches this year both Auckland and Waikato each scored 389 points.
