• Taranaki were the first team that Waikato ever played. They drew 15-15 at Hawera on July 5, 1921.
• Taranaki captain Craig Clarke has been a popular member of the Chiefs for the last two seasons.
• No Waikato forward has scored points this season.
• This was a closely fought match last year (15-14). Both first five eights exchanged dropped goals over the last few minutes to take the lead - first Taranaki and then Waikato.
• Trent Renata currently has scored 99 points (1t, 20c,17p, 1d) in first class rugby.
• Chiefs and Taranaki player Jarrad Hoeata scored his first try from 47 first class matches this last weekend.
