Mooloo's Draw with the Magpies

The Mooloo men took on Hawke's Bay today at McLean Park and walked away with a draw after a penalty kick by Hawke's Bay first five Daniel Kirkpatrick in overtime with a final score of 27 all.
The first points on the board were by the Bay with a penalty kick by Daniel Kirkpatrick quickly followed by an excellent break by Captain Nathan White who offloaded to Brendon Leonard who was ruled by referee Kane McBride to be just short of the line. The Mooloo men put it wide off the scrum and centre Save Tokula scored out wide. Trent Renata converted it to put our boys ahead 7-3.
Smart running by halfback Brendon Leonard saw an offload to Tim Mikkelson, then to Liam Messam who scored on the wing to push our boys further ahead 12-3.
Hawke's Bay first five-eight Daniel Kirkpatrick slotted a penalty from 40m 25minutes into the first half to make the half-time score 12-6.
Sosene Anesi took off down the field with a quick offload it reached Trent Renata who slid over the line and converted his try to push the score out to 19-6, 3minutes into the second half.
Hawke's Bay quickly retaliated with a try to prop Clint Newland to bring the score to 19-11.
Another penalty to Daniel Kirkpatrick saw the gap close to 19-14, 52minutes into the game.
Our Mooloo men continuously pushed towards the line until the Hawke's Bay defence broke and Toby Smith scored to make the score 24-14.
A defensive error out wide saw Hawke's Bay score, 24-21.
A penalty to each team saw the score reach 27-24 when the final hooter went. Hawke's Bay kept the ball in hand and converted a late penalty to draw the game 27-27.
