De Malmanche Called into All Blacks

15th June 2009 09:15AM

Canterbury and Crusaders flanker George Whitelock and Waikato and Chiefs front rower Aled de Malmanche have been called into the All Blacks squad.

23-year-old Whitelock comes in as a replacement for All Blacks flanker Adam Thomson who broke a bone in his right hand in last night's Iveco Series Test against France in Dunedin.

All Blacks Doctor Deb Robinson said Thomson's hand was in a cast and he would be out of rugby for six weeks.

Meanwhile, 24-year-old de Malmanche, who can play both hooker and prop, has been called in as cover for hooker Andrew Hore, who suffered rib cartilage damage in last night's game.

A full assessment on the severity of Hore's injury will be known in the next 48 hours.

Whitelock and de Malmanche are currently with the Junior All Blacks at the Pacific Nations Cup tournament in Fiji and are due to join the All Blacks in Wellington early this week ahead of the second Test against France.
