Marty is one of the more experienced players on the Waikato team this season, known predominantly for his ability to steal the ball in the tackle. He bagan his career with Waikato in 1999 in an away game in Aomori against Japan. Marty has joined the Waikato side once more after completing his two year contract with Ospery in Wales. It was in Wales where he was named "Ospreys' Coaches Player of the Year".
