Official Charity - Rainbow Place
Rainbow Place is delighted to have once again been chosen as the official charity of the Waikato Rugby Union. The children and families are looking forward to getting to know the rugby players and receiving their fantastic support.
Rainbow Place is the children and young people's service of Hospice Waikato. The skilled team of two counsellors, a social worker, two children's nurses, administrator and volunteers, support children and young people who:
- are affected by the serious illness and/or death of a loved one, or
- are affected by the sudden death of a loved one through a medical cause (eg. heart attack, brain haemorrhage, asthma attack, severe allergy etc), or
- who have a serious illness themselves (eg. life-limiting, life-threatening, or palliative)
Parents/caregivers can make direct contact with Rainbow Place to discuss referrals. Flexible packages of care and support are tailored to suit the needs of individuals and families.
The team will travel throughout the Waikato District Health Board region if families cannot get to Rainbow Place and see children and young people in their homes or at school. Specialised nursing support for sick children is available in their homes or at Rainbow Place.
The Rainbow Place service is provided at no charge to clients and their families.
